Steindler Welcomes Clayton Walker, M.D. and Ericka Lawler, M.D.

Iowa City, IA (January 6, 2025) — Fellowship-trained in sports medicine, Dr. Walker’s practice is focused on treating and preventing injuries and managing chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Beyond sports medicine, Dr. Walker specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation to serve our patients. His goal is to safely return our patients to optimal physical functioning levels, enabling them to enjoy their daily activities.

Dr. Walker attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. He then went to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine for his doctorate in medicine. Dr. Walker completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He then traveled to Palo Alto, CA for fellowship training in sports medicine at Stanford University.

Dr. Walker is passionate about maintaining an active lifestyle. He spends his free time playing soccer, working out, hiking, and being outdoors. He also enjoys traveling to experience new places, cultures, and perspectives.

 

Fellowship-trained in hand & upper extremity surgery, Dr. Lawler’s practice is focused on treating and preventing hand and upper extremity conditions of both adult and pediatric patients. Her goal is to safely return our patients to optimal physical function enabling them to enjoy their daily activities.

Dr. Lawler attended Yale University in New Haven, CT for her degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. She then went to the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. for her doctorate in medicine. She completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. Dr. Lawler came to Iowa for a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Lawler participates in a pediatric upper extremity mission to Honduras every year. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, gardening, and hiking.
